Of course, we can have a great time on almost any river...just enjoying nature.   But this section of the Etowah has a secret!

During the days of gold mining, the miners knew that gold would accumulate in the rivers, down on the bedrock.  So to get to it, they blasted a tunnel through a hillside to divert the river.

Well today, a portion of the river follows its original path, but a part of it still flows through the tunnel.  And we just had to go through it!
