GWS MEETINGS are held on the 3rd Tuesday of February, April, June, October, and December at the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Macon, 7:30pm.
The GWS T-Shirts are in!  They are similar to the last run of shirts....100% cotton, natural color, with GWS logo on the back and smaller on the front.  The cost is $10 for small, medium, large, and extra large.  $11 for double-extra large.  Click here to inquire about size availability.

Nov 26   Thanksgiving Meal   Once again, Bonnie Gehling will open her home to any and all who can join her for a traditional Thanksgiving Meal.  This has been a popular event in the past for folks who an unable to be with family for the holidays.  Let Bonnie know if you plan on coming to her house in Byron (just south of Macon).  Contact  Bonnie Gehling  for details.

Nov 28   Pine Mountain Hiking   We will have a Turkey Walk on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Pine Mountain at FDR State Park.  We will do Dowdell Knob Loop which is 4.3 miles.  Bring a lunch and meet at the Dowdell Knob parking lot and picnic area where FDR loved to picnic.  We will start at 10:30 and either have lunch on the trail or when we return to the parking lot. Dec 15   Christmas Dinner and Party at Macon's Museum of Arts and Sciences at 7:00pm

Dec 25   Christmas in the Low Country   Ok, so it really isn't in the "Low Country", but there will be a low country shrimp boil.   All are welcome to come out for a slightly non-traditional Christmas Dinner!   Contact  Bonnie Gehling  for details.

Jan 30  Tree Planting Party.   When the tornado hit Macon and surrounding areas a year and a half ago, GWS member Shirley Williams lost many dozen trees on her property near Dry Branch.  GWS members and others helped to clean the bulk of the trees that were down from around her house back then, and now she is replanting trees.  She will be serving soup, salad, and a drink for all who can come help...beginning at 9:00am.   Anyone who wants to bring a dish to share is welcome to do so, but not required.  Please let her know that you are coming, for food planning purposes.  478-755-9217 / 478-731-3468.

Mar 24-28   Cumberland Island Camping   Spend a few days camping at Sea Camp, strolling the island trails, exploring the ruins, watching the horses, and walking the beaches.  Photos from previous trip.
Ferry will leave St. Mary's on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 11:45 and return Sunday, March 28th, 2010 at 10:15  Contact  Bonnie Gehling  for details.  At this time, the trip is full (we only have reservations for 16 people).   If you want to get on the waiting list (yes, people do have to cancel sometimes), just email Bonnie.
