Georgia Wilderness Society
Adventures at Ross Farm

July 22, 2023
You could have called it a Rehab Ride, a Break-in the Newby Ride, or a Middle Georgia Ag Tour RIde - but whatever you might term it, the weather smiled on us!

The blazing heat had abated a bit and after some fiddling with the bikes, we took off on our 8.7 mile jaunt westward from the Ross work farm. All was green - the peach trees and the pecan trees were lush.

We passed peanut fields, cotton acreage and on Burnette Road saw a beautiful patch of blooming sunflowers, followed by a rain-filled pond with egrets and young ibis. The Peach County roads were smooth (Crawford stretches not so much!)

Hills were moderate and do-able for our re-habers and old trip leaders. Go re-habers! Deep into Crawford we saw the tan truck and trailer shuttle parked by the road, loaded up and headed back.

We celebrated our successful outing by dining in style at Byron's Chez Denny gourmet road food joint.

Our riders were Bonnie Gehling, Lynn Rivenbark, Margaret Clay, Terry Ross (trip leader), and Basil Youman, who briefly laid down his paddle to come pedal. Rosemary Ross laid down her gardening trowel to join us for brunch. Thanks and congrats to all participants.
