Papes Ferry to Amerson Park
GWS Trip Report
Ocmulgee River Canoeing Day Trip 11 July 2020
Eight (8) GWS members came out for a wonderful day trip on the Ocmulgee from Popes Ferry Landing to Amerson Park. We met at 8AM to get signed in and a short brief on shuttle procedures. Dave Gardner was kind enough to setup a return shuttle that helped us get on the river by 9:30. Participants on this venture were Bud & Niki, Jessica, Dave, Terry, Tom & Holly and Jeff. Weather was clear & nice and cool in the AM, but got hot after 11 when we stopped for a break and snacks. Arrived at Amerson put-in 1:30 to get loaded and go home. Was very surprised at the crowds at Amerson. We had to ask people to move to one side to get up the ramp with our boats & gear, will not do Amerson Park again on the weekend.
It was a very nice day on the river.
